Block detectors sense the presence of a locomotive or other rolling stock on a section of track. They are used as inputs to signal systems and control panels, and to indicate occupancy on hidden track and staging yards.
Our easy-to-install DCC Block Detector senses the current drawn by a locomotive, lighted car, or resistor equipped wheel set. Simply run the track feeder wire through the hole in the current sensor - no electrical connection to the track is required. Connect the output, provide power, and adjust the sensitivity - now you're ready to go! An advanced digital design makes sensitivity adjustment easy and reliable for years of trouble-free operation.
The simple Reflective Infrared Proximity Sensor makes detection of locomotives or rolling stock easy and reliable. Just place the sensor where its invisible light beam will reflect off the object of interest and you're done - no time-consuming or frustrating adjustments! Based on modern silicon technology, this sensor is tolerant of ambient (background) lighting conditions, be it completely dark or under full lights, with no false triggering. Combined with a discrete under-track installation, this low-profile sensor solves many of the challenges that plague other optical detector products.
"I was having problems with the sensors for my
grade crossing flashers... As soon as I replaced the sensors with the
ISE sensors, all the problems went away and the crossing signals have
worked flawlessly." – Jason Klocke. View Jason’s spectacular CGW layout here.
