As alumni of the Iowa State University Solar Car Team, Team PrISUm, we recognized that many of Iowa Scaled Engineering’s products could be used by teams competing in solar racing competitions. In fact, MRBus had its origins in the Sunrayce ’99 car, PrISUm Phoenix.
From solar array monitoring to battery telemetry to driver interfaces and chase vehicles, we have the starting blocks that can be used to build an electrical system for the vehicle. An overview of the products that have specific application to solar car racing can be found here. They are all open-source and you are invited and encouraged to modify and improve upon them.
If you are not an active member of a solar racing team, please consider making a donation to your local university’s team. See the American Solar Challenge and World Solar Challenge pages for team listings and more details.
